Beat The Heat Life Hacks

Hack One: Wear loose fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing.

Hack Two: Drink plenty of water! When you sweat you lose water and electrolytes so stay hydrated and replenish your electrolytes.

Hack Three: Apply peppermint or eucalyptus oil to your skin for a cooling sensation.

Hack Four: Avoid physical activity or going out during the hottest part of the day (typically between 11am and 2pm)

Hack Five: Apply ice packs or cold compresses to the back of your neck, bottom of your feet, ankles, and/or the back of your knee.

Hack Six: Use black out curtains to keep the sun out and prevent a greenhouse effect.

Hack Seven: Pay attention to your body! Know the signs and symptoms of heat stroke such as flushed skin, nausea, vomiting, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, high body temperature, headache, altered mental state, and confusion. If you suspect someone is experiencing heat stroke get that person to a cool location, use any means available to cool the body temperature down, and call 911.
